The features already described in design, science and medical applications
also have obvious industrial applications. In addition, consider
that the Orb can be used as a telemanipulation device. Also, the
Orb will offer tremendous advantages in piloting real-world vehicles
or robots.
Piloting jet fighters involves working against strong G forces
while maneuvering. A small orb, properly positioned, would allow
pilots excellent control without the added fatigue of constantly
fighting inertial forces with their arms.
Conventionally, flying vehicles must have a forward trajectory
to stay aloft. The favored array of piloting controls (and game
controllers) are built around that paradigm. In outer space, underwater,
and in micro space (such as the environments where micro machines
are designed), a forward trajectory is not required, but greater
maneuverability is important. An orb would be a simple, ideal method
to control such vehicles.
